The crew of Futures takes a further look at a variety of careers in the lumbering and wood products industry of Pennsylvania in these entertaining new videos!
Pennsylvania has the highest amount of hardwood growing stock in the nation, with growth rates double the amount of current harvest levels. Harvest rates are approximately one percent of the total timber volume of the state.
High quality timber, forest products and a balance between public and private ownership create stable conditions and economic incentive to wisely manage and perpetuate Pennsylvania forestlands.
In these episode the crew explores Brookville Bats, a specialized wing of Brookville Wood Products and travel to Emlenton, PA to visit Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring. They also visit a working lumber mill in Punxsutawney as well as a lumbering program at a regional career and tech ed school.
